Our latest web site has just gone live.

MIH Centre are leading innovation consultants to major businesses that need to develop new products or services.

The company was started by Tim Nicol, an ex-senior manager in marketing at Mars/Masterfoods. He saw first-hand the difficulties many large companies have with the creation and further development of products and services. They have now helped businesses around the world including BP, Diageo, Nestle, Sony and many other household names.

Our Internet viewing habits are of great interest to retailers and other groups so there’s been an increase in the use of tracking tools by web sites. This is usually via ‘cookies’ and the EU are now attempting to regulate how they are used through legislation.

Cookies are text files that are stored on a computer and can be used to authenticate a person, store their preferences or much more.

They also drive the biggest industry on the web – advertising.  These cookies enable advertisers to track websites visited and then present that person with tailored content and adverts – known as ‘behavioural advertising’.  It is this aspect that has caused the privacy concerns about cookies.

We’ve just launched 2 new web sites for clients

The first was last week for Pikkup, a client who sells accessories for, not surprisingly, pick-up trucks – like Toyota Hilux and Nissan Navara. He wanted a simple e-commerce site to effectively replace his e-Bay site. The site went live on Wed 27th July. www.pikkup.co.uk

The second was for a professional media trainer, business speaker and business columnist based in London. Robert Taylor trains people to handle themselves well in front of the media – TV, radio, journalists and so on. He has trained over 1000 members of the Foreign Office and plenty of senior execs of major companies inside and outside the UK. We’ve always thought we talked sense and plain English. Now it seems that the people at the Guardian think so too.

We were forwarded a general request for ‘expert’ quotes and information for an article in the Guardian as part of a series of four on self-employment.

It seems that the Freelancer involved decided to use some of our material. One bit was actually quoted and attributed, other bits were definitely used too.

What have bananas got to do with web sites?

Well here at Clarihon Towers it’s gone bananas recently!

At the end of June we got three new clients in one week. One each from a Designer we work with, another through a London PR company that we’ve linked with and the last a long-standing network contact.

So that’s web sites for an interior furnishings company in Newquay, an interior designer in London and an Architect.

The beauty of our business is that we get to work with some lovely people and lots of interesting businesses – and that’s very true for our latest batch. We are aiming to have all of them up and running by the end of August – so it’s a good job our next holiday isn’t until mid-September.
