Getting more on your PC screen(s)
Big flat screens for PCs are already cheap and getting cheaper all the time. I’ve just replaced my 18″ screen with a 23″ screen for just under £100 and increased my screen ‘real estate’ by around 33%.
If you have the desk space and REALLY want to increase the viewing space on your PC, why not have two screens? With Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 it’s easy to add a second screen and configure the PC to spread the desktop size to cover both of them. You need a suitable graphics card in your PC (with 2 outlets) or some sort of monitor splitter. Decent graphics cards (for basic office work) start at only £30 from people like Scan (www.scan.co.uk) or Ebuyer (www.ebuyer.co.uk).
If you like the idea but don’t fancy installing it yourself, give your local PC guru a call. If you operate in SW Devon, Plymouth or SE Cornwall John Allan of Mazingtree or Martin Limburn of Limbtec will be able to help.
