Tech ‘no babble’ no. 2
As the economic conditions get tough many companies instinctively reduce the amount they spend on marketing. That’s not too bad in itself but it usually translates to a reduction in the total amount of marketing they do.
When times are tight and competition is at its fiercest, that’s the time when marketing is at its most valuable. Getting your name known and your message across is even more important. There are lots of low or even zero cost ways of doing this.
For example:
- find a networking group or event that you don’t normally attend. Meetings are usually inexpensive with many only charging for a breakfast or light meal
- write articles for local or even national newspapers. As long as the topic is newsworthy, of general interest and written with the audience in mind it’s likely to be of interest to editors
- email existing clients to remind them of the full range of the services you provide – or any special offers
- write articles for trade magazine, blogs or web sites
- seek out links to your web site from related companies and organisations. Google and the other Search Engines love relevant inbound links to your web site
- attend local seminars and training sessions organised by Business Link and other government-funded business-helping organisations.speak with marketing professionals and/or visit their web sites
There are plenty of other ways you can raise your profile too.
